Incorporated in 1901, and originally named Frying Pan Junction, Basalt was once little more than a stop on the Colorado Midland Railroad. Located at the confluence of the Frying Pan and Roaring Fork Rivers, Basalt now offers a strong sense of community and family living with an easy-going pace of life.
